Scholarships, Loans and Grants for U.S. and International Women

Educational Loan Fund (ELF)

The P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund (ELF), established in 1907, makes loans available to qualified women who desire higher education and are in need of financial assistance. The loan fund is not a scholarship fund.

All applicants for the Educational Loan Fund must be recommended by a local chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

International Peace Scholarship (IPS) Logo

International Peace Scholarship (IPS)

The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund (IPS), established in 1949, is a program that provides scholarships for selected women from other countries for graduate study in the United States or Canada. Members of P.E.O. believe that education is fundamental to world peace and understanding.

Applications for the International Peace Scholarship do not require recommendation from a local chapter ​of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.​

Program for Continuing Education (PCE)

The P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education (PCE), established in 1973, is a need based grant program providing one-time financial assistance to women whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to complete a degree or certification that improves their marketable skills for employment to support themselves and/or their families.

Requires sponsorship from a local P.E.O. chapter.

P.E.O. Scholar Awards (PSA)

The P.E.O. Scholar Awards (PSA) program was established in 1991 to provide substantial merit-based awards for women of the United States and Canada who are pursuing a doctoral level degree at an accredited college or university.

Requires nomination from a local P.E.O. chapter.​

STAR Scholarship

The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship was established in 2009 to provide scholarships for exceptional high school senior women to attend an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the United States or Canada in the next academic year.

Requires sponsorship from a local P.E.O. chapter.​​

Cottey College

Cottey College, a nationally ranked, fully accredited, independent, liberal arts/sciences college for women located in Nevada, Missouri, has been owned/supported by P.E.O. since 1927 and offers baccalaureate and associate degrees in a variety of majors. Cottey College, a debt-free institution, welcomes women from around the world.
